Located
in Sterling, Virginia and primarily serving the Washington DC Metropolitan
area, Reed Electronics provides high-quality office networking and computing
solutions to businesses and professional offices of all sizes and types.
Whether your office is located in a high-rise building or a converted
basement, we can design a networking solution that's just right for
your needs.
Founded seven years ago by two brothers, Steve and Tom Reed, Reed Electronics
is a rapidly growing firm solidly rooted in the ideals the company was
founded on - highly personalized customer service, superior equipment,
and a refreshingly practical view of how to implement today's modern
office technology so that even small businesses on a budget can afford
to compete in their fields. As Reed Electronics has grown, the company's
foundation has remained the same, making it one of the most sought-after
and highly respected InfoTech companies in the Washington, DC area.
Although focused on the Washington Metropolitan area, Reed Electronics
computers and technology can also be found in high-profile environments
such as the computing laboratory at Pennsylvania State University.
Client: Colchester Hunt Title &
Escrow, Inc.
Business Type: Title Company
Location: Fairfax, Virginia
One of our longest-standing clients, Colchester
Hunt's entire office technology is designed and outfitted by Reed Electronics.
The servers (two NT4 and one Win2K) and workstations (NT4) were custom-designed
and manufactured in our lab, and the configuration includes an integrated
T-1 Internet service and an on-site mail and web server. Services provided
include both on-site and remote off-site support. The entire network
is protected with a hardware firewall under our careful watch.
Client: Advanced Pediatrics
Business Type: Medical Office
Location: Vienna, Virginia
Advanced Pediatrics is a physician's office
running a special Windows 2000 server custom-designed in our lab with
exceptional reliability and performance in mind. Multiple drives, automatic
fail-over, and dual-redundant power supplies are just part of this showcase
installation. Rounding out the configuration are custom Pentium III
733Mhz workstations that are built to withstand a busy office atmosphere
and integrated 384K SDSL service protected with a hardware firewall.
Client: Dulles Electric and Supply
Co., Inc.
Business Type: Retail/Industrial
Location: Sterling, Virginia
Dulles Electric has an interesting hybrid configuration
consisting of a Reed Electronics Windows NT4 server and an existing
proprietary Unix server. The existing network was outfitted with all-new
workstations and DSL service integrated onto the network for remote
support along with a hardware firewall.
Client: National Church Group Insurance Agency
Business Type: Insurance
Location: Leesburg, Virginia
The National Church Group is an example of a complex network that was
assumed by Reed Electronics for an extensive makeover. The existing
wiring was reconfigured for maximum efficiency, hubs replaced with network
switches, and high-speed SDSL integrated onto the network with a hardware
firewall. The network is managed remotely from our Network Operations
Center in Sterling, Virginia and has just been recapitalized with new
workstations running Windows 2000.
Client: Lighthouse Title
Business Type: Title Company
Location: Fairfax and McLean, Virginia
Lighthouse Title is another 100% Reed Electronics-outfitted company
with an interesting twist - their new satellite office in McLean, Virginia
is connected to the parent company network over a dedicated T-1 lease
line and the workstations fully integrated into the company network.
Employees at the McLean location see and use the network just as their
colleagues do at the main office! Everyone has common access to the
Internet through a SDSL connection at the Fairfax office and the network
is of course protected with a hardware firewall.
